31 January 2015

Products used:

Primer - Smashbox Photofinish
Foundation - Mac Studio Fix Fluid NC15
Concealer - Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser in Light
Contour - Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess (Temples and Cheekbones)
Blush - Mac Fleur Power
Highlight - Benefit Watts Up
Eyebrows - Rimmel Pencil in 001 Dark Brown
Eyeshadow - Naked Basics 2 palette (Stark on lid and Cover in crease)
Eyeliner - Soap and Glory Super Cat Liner
Mascara - Revlon Lash Potion
Lipstick - Mac Lovelorn

I thought that today I would upload a pretty simple makeup look because I haven't in a while and lot of people enjoyed them previously. I love how gorgeous the finish is of the Mac foundation - I luuurve high coverage. The lipstick adds a lovely pop of colour to the look, as I decided to do simple eyes for those, like myself, who haven't yet mastered the art of eyeshadow-ing! I've also been really into winged liner recently and it fits perfectly with this little daytime designed face.

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

P.S. Hoping to upload tomorrow too if I get the chance (Hint - It's all about concealers)

Luxury Nude Lips | Mac&Chanel

21 January 2015

If you've been struggling to create that flawless nude lip that takes yours from concealer lips to Kylie Jenner, then you should carry on reading...

When wearing nude lipstick, I tend to be drawn to warmer pinks tones rather than cooler, as they work better with my natural lip colour. Usually, I find nude lipsticks to not be as long lasting as brighter colours, so the majority of the time I opt for liner to pair it with. Mac's Dervish is perfect for the job - it is the exact colour match for Chanel's Satisfaction and beautifully intensifies the warmness of the original tone. I apply Dervish slightly over my natural lipline to bring out my inner Kylie (I wish) and marginally enlarge them.

Chanel Rouge CoCo Shine in Satisfaction is a god send. A warm, rose nude with a buttery, moisturzing texure is all I could ask for in my optimal lipstick. It gives a slight glossy finish which is really flattering, especially in the winter months. This lip combo is ideal for everyday wear, as it is both subtle and pretty. The packaging is also to die for - I loooove the Chanel logo!

Urban Decay Naked Basics 2

18 January 2015

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that I am a crazy Urban Decay fan - especially when it comes to their ultra pigmented, buttery eyeshadows. I have been using this little palette throughout the whole of January and I cannot get enough of it!

Naked Basics 2 holds all matte shadows (with the execption of skimp - it is slightly shimmery), all of which are neutral and highly wearable for anyone. I am in love with all the names - all cheekily related to the whole 'Naked' range. There are two lighter shades and the rest of the palette is orientated around taup-ier/grey colours...very similar to the Naked 2 which happens to be my most used and very well loved palette.

Over the past month, I have been really into subtle eyeshadow with a slick feline flick. I have been wearing stark all over the lid, cover in the outer corner(also mixed with frisk in the crease) and finally skimp on the inner corner and brow bone. As skimp is the only shade that isn't purely matte, it looks beautiful when highlighting the brow bone. I'm also really into the warm tone cover beholds, as it really accentuates the eye shape and compliments hazel/brown eyes. Finally, when discussing the colours, I love how the darkest shade, undone, is not an intense black, as seen in the first Naked Basics palette. I think a muted black is far more wearable, perfect for wearing as smoked liner and nicer for creating more natural looks.

On the topic of formulation, this palette does not fail to meet my expectations. Like all my other Urban Decay palettes, the shades are all very buttery and pigmented. This makes it so much easier to blend the shadows, especially those being applied in the crease. I do this usually with my E.L.F Professional Eye Blending Brush.

Overall, I must conclude that this is a definite must-have for those who are a cool-toned shadow fan, love matte shadows, are a lover of Urban Decay palettes, obsessed with neutral eyes or anyone who travels alot, since the palette is small and compact. I cannot compare this to the first and I don't own it/never tried it but let me know in the comments below if you loved it!

What are your favourite products from Urban Decay? Do you like their eyeshadows as much as I do?

Mega Wishlist for 2015 // Makeup, Fashion & More

14 January 2015

Today's post consists of my ultimate wishlist for 2015; I have only created 4 categories, otherwise I would probably be here for ages. The categories I chose were makeup, brushes, clothes/accessories and perfumes. I may continue and create a second post following this with a variety of things and not just keeping it restricted into the fashion/beauty industry ( for example, cds, technology, books etc).

*small disclaimer - I am not in any way expecting to get all the products I am listing below. I will be saving up for them over the year and hope to get maybe one item from each category by the end of 2015.*

Perfume

*I am awful at describing scents so I will just insert sections from their websites telling you what each liquid, encased in elegant packaging, smells like*
  • Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream - Light and airy, Daisy Dream is both floral and fruity. The fragrance captivates with delectable top notes of blackberry, fresh grapefruit and succulent pear. The heart imparts a rich, feminine jasmine, notes of lychee and blue wisteria. A dreamy drydown of white woods, musks and coconut water.
  • Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium - An addictive gourmand floral with notes of: Black Coffee – for a shot of adrenaline; White Florals – to instantly seduce; and Vanilla – for sweetness and sensuality.
  • Paco Robanne Lady Million - A fresh woody floral, Lady Million Eau de Toilette is a multifaceted, luminous, fresh and transparent interpretation of the original fragrance.
  • Christian Dior Miss Dior - It glides from the sharp charm of a fresh, fruity, citrus prelude into blossoming floral notes, then on to the noble elegance of patchouli, before finally concluding with musk, the last trace of memory With veritable riches concealed in her heart, Miss Dior develops in the most intense and astonishing way.
  • Jean Paul Gauliter Classique - A totally seductive fragrance...Sensual, sophisticated, bewitchingly seductive rose. Top note: Rose, rum. Heart: Vanilla orchid. Base: Sandalwood, tonka bean.
Makeup

  •  Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette - Very recently, I have been wanting this so so badly. I have a complete crush on eyeshadow palettes, not very good for my purse but oh well, and don't have anything like this in my collection. I have heard so much about this product and just envy everyone who has it...it is about time I bought it for myself!
  • Soap and Glory Supercat Liner - My bestie lent this to me very recently and I absolutely loved it. I didn't think I would be into a felt tip styled liner but I am in complete awe at how easy it is to apply wings with it. Definitely need to bag myself this in 2015!
  • Nars Creamy Concealer - Words cannot describe how much I'm longing to try this out. The packaging looks so sleek and classy, as always, and from every review I have read it sounds to be the master at highlighting and concealing those dreaded under eye circles - a thing my face unfortunately owns! *sad face*
  • Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation - Over 2014, I wore this foundation to the parties I went to with my best friend Jess (helloitsjessxx.blogspot.co.uk). I just need this in my life asap, as the coverage makes my skin look flawless! Oh, and I probably owe Jess a lot of it back too!
  • The Balm Mary Lou Manizer - A very recent craving for my beauty wishlist is the very talked about higlight from the Balm. I only heard about this brand in 2014 and it became more popular as the year progressed. The highlight looks so beautiful and glamorous on all bloggers I've seen photographing it.

Brushes

  •  Nars ITA - I'm so desperate to try this gorgeous little fella out. It looks perfect for contouring and the thin dense bristles look like they would go a precise job when carving in those fake cheekbones.
  • Mac 217 - A great must-have from most of the beauty bloggers in town. Sadly, I always forget about the brushes when at a Mac stand and am mesmerized by the many other treasures the brand holds. I must try and get this some time throughout the year, as I'm a sucker for eye blending brushes.
  • Bobbi Brown Face Blender - Ever since Tanya Burr raved about this in a video long ago I have been eyeing it up. The way it effortlessly blended in her makeup made me envy her so much and I just want to get this myself to see if it works for me too.
  • Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection - A very recent addition to the all so famous 'Real Techniques' brushes are the new bold metals collection, ever so beautifully designed by the Chapman sisters! The rose gold ones are my favourite, not just because of the colour but for the blush and contour brushes.
  • Nars Yachiyo - Is it just me that finds this brush really edgy? Probably. I just have a thing with fluffy blusher brushes, okay?!
Clothes/Accessories

  • Black Laced Playsuit - I want to add this little beauty to my wardrobe right now. It is from missguided and I am in love with the elaborate lacey detailing on the arms of the playsuit. This would be perfect for a night out with your friends!
  • Burgundy Floppy Hat - Every time I see one of these in a shop, I always have to try them on. My family and friends say they really suit my hair colour. The only thing is, it just appears, to me, as more of an autumn/winter fashion statement so maybe I should buy it around september again? Sigh.
  • Rose Gold Midi Rings - Noone can tell me these don't look so god damn cute!? I want some of these pretty rings but have no idea where to look for them/can buy any that look similar to the picture above. If any of you know, then please don't hesitate to drop me a little comment below:-)
  • Tartan Scarf - A classic - I mean everyone has one of these nowadays and I want to join the trend. Not just to 'get in with the crowd', I just love the look of thick chunky scarves paired with a simple tee and leggings - cosy but stylish is my fave look.
  • White Turtle Neck Jumper - Oversized jumpers and shirts have been a big thing in my wardrobe for the last few months. However, I have recently fallen for this large white turtle neck jumper that looks really chic, yet so warm and cosy. Ugh, that look is to die for and I love how this model has her hair too.

*PLEASE READ*
My most dearest male friend, Ben, has just created a blog and it would make me super super happy if you went a checked it out - lifeofbenp.blogspot.co.uk. He will be writing lifestyle posts; discussing various topics, anything he has done in the day and just general life issues/events. I love his writing style and I'm sure you will too:-) So please please please, would you all be so kind as to view it and leave a lil comment on any of his posts - he will seriously appreciate it! Love you Ben!

Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual // Review

12 January 2015

I was one lucky girl to receive this very handy book on Christmas day, kindly gifted to me by my boyfriend. He is pretty good at the old thoughtful and great gifts, eh? I think so, and I'm sure you'll agree if you've been reading my posts for a while now.

Anyway, being a keen beauty lover and enthusiast, I though this was an incredible gift, especially for the likes of crazy makeup addicts - like me! I have been completely obsessed with this and have already gathered many tips and advice from shopping in stores, to perfect brows, blush application and even the history of makeup. This book is crammed with sensational beauty knowledge that you wouldn't want to miss out on and a great gift for all beauty lovers! (p.s. I know this has been out ages, but I'm a loser and have only just discovered it)

On the front cover, the book claims to contain everything 'from beginner to pro', and it really does! I have not seen such in depth tutorials and guidance on how to apply every single makeup item known to man. The step-by-step sections are very concise, yet hold great information for the perfect application. I have already learnt soooo much about Bobbi and her makeup do's and don'ts; I just seriously cannot get enough of her!

One massive bonus is that she also talks about skin types. Last year, I struggled to tell what type of skin I had and what I needed to maintain healthy looking and feeling skin. Now I have outstanding knowledge about my combination skin and know exactly what to eat, as well as apply to my fave, to keep my skin feeling fresh and healthy. Page 32 is extremely handy for those unaware of their skin types, as it contains analysis of all variations of skin - normal, dry, oily, sensitive and combination. On this page, you can find out, just like me, which category you skin fits into and find out the right care you need to perform to help your skin.

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with the amount of knowledge I have already gathered from this book. I can't wait to read more and find out about more things I have no idea about. This book is a definite 10/10 from me and I would totally recommend it to ANYONE who is into makeup or wishes to go into the beauty industry.

Would you like to see more book reviews? Maybe ones that aren't makeup related? What else would you like to see me post?
