Toby Carvery | STUDENTS EAT CHEAP!

9 November 2017

I've decided to start up a new series on my blog where I share with you some quirky places to eat, in Lincoln primarily, that are student friendly and great for treat with your flatmates. I thought this would a nice way to share my love for food, as well as sharing my favourite chains and independent food places that are affordable for everyone. Anyway, as a student, food is the centre of our lives. To avoid university work, we take a break to eat something semi-substantial and attempt to cook. Most of the time, it resorts in us taking a quick trip out to somewhere that can supply us with better tasting foods, rather than oven cooked chips and frozen garlic bread. Also, we are very poor indeed - as the stigma accentuates. Going out for food is honestly a dramatic choice that can make a large wound in our bank accounts. Thus, I've decided to create this series to showcase my first amazing food place that my flat mates and I love to go to when we're craving something homely and delicious.

Whenever I miss home, I just want a yummy carvery to pick up my spirits and make my anxieties at ease. Toby Carvery is so convenient for students at the University of Lincoln because it is located opposite the main buildings. It is so easy to walk to, roughly 10 minute walk from my accomodation, and simple to get to. If you've never been to a Toby Carvery before, you are able to have other options rather than the standard carvery deal; however, my flat mate and I obviously opted for the carvery. I love the Toby meat, gravy and the Yorkshire puddings - unfortunately, they had no broccoli on the day we went so I was gutted, as it is my favourite vegetable, but it didn't spoil my meal at all. The portion size is perfect to fill a student's constantly hungry belly and for £6.49, the meal is an inexpensive option for the average poor student. Inside the Toby, the environment is friendly, the staff are extremely hardworking to make sure you have the best experience and a great place to socialise. You can simply go in for a few drinks with your pals or go the FULL way (even getting a dessert, like I did!). For dessert, I had to go for one of Toby's infamous FREAK SHAKES. Strawberry, vanilla, marshmallow and waffle goodness! This milkshake was topped with all my favourite sweet treats and I indulged in the richness. If you ever make your way to a Toby Carvery, make sure to save space for dessert because you will not want to miss out on one of their three shakes!

You can easily book a table in advance with the Toby Carvery system online.

Are you a student? Where is your favourite affordable place to go for food?

Lots of love

This meal was complimentary of Toby Carvery; however, all opinions are honest and my own.
