Margaret Dabbs | Autumnal Nails

2 October 2016

Nail Polish is a beauty product I've hoarded for years. Whenever a birthday, christmas or another event (ESPECIALLY THE CLOTHES SHOW), I seem to be gifted so many different nail polishes - so many I don't ever have to buy my own. One thing I love about nail polish is finding the right shades for you - I seem to work better with cooler tones as it suits my skin colour more. I also love a brand's ability to formulate the perfect nail polish; in my mind, the perfect nail polish applies smoothly, evenly and as opaque as the colour in the bottle. In my time as a beauty addict, I have found many nail varnishes that fail to reach all requirements, and very little that do. This is why I become so enthusiastic whenever I discover a new nail polish brand...

Margaret Dabbs are a London-derived company that specialise in luxury hand and foot care products, as well as treatments. The company sell serums, cream, anti-ageing items and plenty of nail treatments. I literally jumped at the opportunity to try their stunning range of nail polishes and let you guys know what I think.

Each polish is held in a glass tube, held together with a golden, metallic lid. The golden writing plastered on the front of the tube matches the lid - the AESTHETICS! I love when brands go that extra mile to make a product look so classy and put together. The nail polish range, consisting of over 60 shades, are all named after an array of florals, both classic and exotic. As Autumn has arrived, I opted for shades that fit for what the month is renowned for.

White Rose - an off-white cream/beige.

Bell Flower - a mauve, taupe with silver reflects.

Apricot Blossom - a muted peach-pink.

Green Day Lily - a deep teal with rich blue undertones.

One thing I absolutely adore about these products are that the colours are 100% true to what you see in the bottle. The apply exactly the same, with just a single coat. Only applying a single layer of nail polish is something rare to find within the nail department - the standard drugstore polish usually requires at least 2-3 coats for an opaque finish so just one is literally a life saver. This made me super happy because I am the most impatient person in the world. One less layer = less time to dry! The brush, attached to the lid, is very thin. The bristles are strong and the polish, undoubtedly, applies smoothly, as well as leaving an even distribution, over the nail. The feel of the product as isn't tacky or thick - the consistency is luxurious, just as the packaging suggests. After drying on the nail, the polish gives off an glossy shine - no need for a top coat (unless you want the polish to last for longer on the nail). At a retail price of £14, these polishes are not the cheapest. However, you are clearly paying for beautiful quality and lasting power.

You will definitely be seeing these polishes all over my nails throughout Autumn and the cooler months. Head over to my instagram (@scarletslippersblog) because I will be sure to post them on over there!

Which polish is your favourite? Do you switch your nail wardrobe round depending on the month?

Lots of love

  3. Do some research on the net and visit other nail salons to see the kind of furniture they are using. Ask others in the industry for suggestions. Nails
